Them/U.S.
This is nominally an Iraq war piece, yet it is about all wars.
Fingerprints represent each lost soul, most of whom remain nameless and faceless to all but their close relatives. While soldiers are expected to be "uniform," in truth they are as unique as fingerprints.
As applied to the present war, the Iraqi deaths (top) are covered up as if they don't exist. The American soldiers fade away without making a dent in the nation's consciousness; the public forbidden to view their coffins and funerals.
